Born in New York and raised in Wales, he's a dual national — a fact he finds completely unremarkable and which everyone else insists on finding fascinating. The North of his books is Norse on purpose and to the bone: the gods keep their right names, the seiðr keeps its right rules, and the prophecy has a name, because an invented world deserves real bones and not set‑dressing borrowed from somewhere warmer.
